Cynthia J. Carlyn, MD, FIDSA, is a seasoned infectious disease specialist who serves as Chief of Infectious Disease at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. Thus, she overseas 5 programs, including HIV medicine, antibiotic stewardship, infection prevention (chair), home IV antibiotics, and general infectious disease. And, she is a mentor for medical students, internal medicine interns and residents, and allergy fellows from Albany Medical Center. As an infectious disease specialist, she has dedicated training and unique experience in the diagnosis, control and treatment of infections.  Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms – such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Moreover, Dr. Carlyn has an impressive professional journey that spans thirty-five years. Therefore, she has expanse knowledge and unrivaled expertise in all facets of her work. Dr. Cynthia J. Carlyn received her Alden March Biomedical Ethics Certification at Albany Medical College (2008). In addition, the Joint Commission Surveyor recognized for providing exceptional care to veteran patients during 2015 JC survey. Get to know Chief Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Cynthia Joan Carlyn, who serves the population of Delmar, New York

Dr. Carlyn graduated with her Medical Degree from the Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1988, giving her over three decades of experience in her field. After obtaining her medical degree she completed her internal medicine Residency and her Medical Microbiology Fellowship from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Furthering her training she completed a Fellowship in Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Emerging Infectious Diseases, and additionally she completed a course in Biomedical Ethics at Albany Medical College.
