Cynthia J. Carlyn, MD, FIDSA, attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and received her medical degree in 1979. Then, she served her internal medicine residency, and microbiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. Furthermore, Dr. Carlyn completed her fellowship in emerging infectious diseases at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, she received board certification in internal medicine and infectious disease medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. And, she remains at the forefront of his challenging specialty via memberships and affiliations with prestigious professional societies and associations. As a result, he is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America. Moreover, she attained fellowship of the Infectious Disease Society of America. She feels that her success is attributable primarily to her parents and her faith instilling a strong work ethic. Also, she links her success to striving to do the most with what she was given in the world and wanting to pay it forward. Dr. Cynthia J. Carlyn dedicates her spare time to traveling, reading, gardening and swimming. Also, she participates in didactic teaching and team-based learning and contributes to various charities. Dr. Carlyn remains a member of the Maimonides Society and the Temple Israel Congregation.
